Reactivity, Aggression, and Dominance

Through my work with an animal shelter in south Georgia, I worked with many dogs who were labeled as aggressive and turned out to be loving wonderful pups. So many times dogs are mislabeled as aggressive when in reality they are reactive. It may seem like a ‘tomato/tomatoe’ semantic, but in reality the verbiage we use to label dogs can be life or death. An aggressive dog is one whose primary objective during an encounter is to do maximum damage for damage sake. A reactive dog is one who uses various techniques (sometimes aggressive ones) to control a situation or create space. If we catch the behavior early it is often easier to correct. Once it has become a habit and/or the dog has been successful using these techniques, then there is often a longer process to recalibrate the dog.

Like all of my training, I tailor each program to your dog’s needs. Pricing is based on a few factors including but not limited to bite history, severity, and age.

“Meredith was amazing! I don’t think we could have gotten through Lilly’s puppyhood without her. We now have a more manageable sweet puppy.”
